Turn an unusable conservatory into a proper room

Conservatory Warm Roofs in Tameside and Greater Manchester

Most conservatories are too hot to sit in by June and too cold to bother with by October. A warm roof replaces the glass or polycarbonate with a fully insulated, tiled roof — so the room stops being a greenhouse and starts being part of the house.

What's involved

Built around you

Every job is different, so this is what we'd normally be doing and talking about. If yours needs something else, tell us on the visit — that's what it's for.

Why choose AJM Builders?

  • Quality workmanship
  • Attention to detail
  • Reliable and professional
  • Tailored to your needs
  • Fully insulated warm roof system

The old roof comes off and an insulated structure goes on, finished in lightweight tiles. That's what stops the room baking in summer and bleeding heat in winter.

  • Velux roof windows

We usually put roof windows back in so you don't lose the light you bought the conservatory for. On the last two we fitted a pair, positioned where the light does the most good.

  • Plastered and finished inside

The inside is boarded and fully plastered, so you get a proper ceiling rather than an exposed frame. It's ready to decorate on handover.

  • Recessed lighting, and LEDs in the fascia

Downlights set into the new ceiling, and on one recent job LED downlights set into the fascia outside — a small touch that changes how the whole back of the house looks at night.

  • Your existing frames and base stay

In most cases the windows, doors and dwarf wall you already have are kept. It's the roof that's the problem, and it's the roof we replace.

  • Building control, handled

Replacing a conservatory roof with a solid one normally needs building regulations approval, and a check that the existing frames and base can take the extra weight. We'll talk you through where you stand before you commit to anything — see our guide below.
